Hi my lovely readers!
Well, week 2 tried to knock me off my feet, but I fought back.
I began the week optimistic, but after two insomniac nights with an awful throbbing in my throat, I discovered I had Tonsillitis - yikes!
After a couple of days of rest and a round of antibiotics, I was thankfully back on my feet.
When I returned to my mountainous to-do list on Friday morning, I scrapped everything on it and wrote down:
Do one thing for yourself today.
And then I meditated.
I did not reach my goal of meditating five times this week and instead landed at four times, but I’ll take that.
To my surprise I found my meditations to be emotionally wrought. And rather than resist, I just let myself cry when I needed to.
It probably means that I’m holding onto a lot of stuff without being consciously aware of it, which is a part of the meditation process.
We are all navigating our own internal battles. Every day we strive to be good partners, mothers, daughters, sisters, sons, aunts, friends, colleagues, and all the roles we juggle.
We are moving quickly with so much external noise that we rarely have the time and space to process our real and raw human emotions.
Meditation can help us to do that. It gives us a resting place to release some of that pressure. It’s a chance to pause, to breathe, and to just be.
And it’s not always pretty or peaceful. Sometimes it’s messy and mangled. But sometimes that’s what we need - to let our selves exist just as we are in the moment, without judgment or fault.
The world demands everything from us every day. But what are we giving back to ourselves?
So as we move into our third and final week of our meditation challenge, this is what I hope for you:
That you use these seven minutes of meditation exactly how you need it.
I encourage you to push yourselves in this final week, regardless of what it brings. Whether it be illness or rest; stress or celebration; hardship or joy.
Refuse to give up this divine time you are creating for yourself.
I’m here to help you stay true to that.
I want you to hit reply on this email, and tell me in one line how you will stay accountable to yourself and your meditation this week. Why did you decide to join this challenge? If you prefer, you can put it in the comments. Either way, I want to hear from you.
And remember, whatever you do, be kind to yourself.
To finishing strong,
Summer
Hope you are feeling better Summer ❤️ - I love the message of scrapping the to-do list and instead doing something for yourself. And also it being OK if you don't meet your original goal, whatever you manage to do is enough. X
